Art for Oak Ridge Care Home

What a rewarding experience the S.P.L.A.T. Club had yesterday as we visited the Oak Ridge Healthcare Center. Before our outing, the artists learned some basics about landscape drawing like the horizon line, aerial perspective, and lineal perspective. They used pastels to create these landscape art-pieces to present to the elderly at the retirement home. Here are a few photos form our trip:

Elderly Care Home Visit Next Week and Sibling Discount!

Next Wed. June 27, 2012 at 4:30 (directly after S.P.L.A.T. Club) we will drive to the Oak Ridge Healthcare Center. The address is 310 Oak Ridge Dr., Roseville, CA 95661During our visit  the children will present their pastel artwork to our new elderly friends who live there. They are excited for us to come. Some of them do not get many visitors so I am sure they will be delighted! Please let me know if you and your child/children will accompany us (you will need to drive your children.)
I want to offer a sibling discount so that the first child is $4 and each sibling after that is $2. I hope this will make it easier on families.
Also, I am going to buy a couple drawing books for the girls. After the still life drawings were complete, we had "free draw" time. The boys were busy with the dragons, cars, trucks, and dinosaurs books and the girls were asking to draw more "princessy" things. Please ask your children what else they are interested in drawing/painting so I can be prepared. They are welcome to bring their own books from home as well. Just make sure their name is in it. Additionally, I love feedback. I want this to be a club the kids look forward to coming to. If cost is an issue, please let me know. I really want all interested to be able to participate. Thank you!

Hooray For Our First Meeting!

Our first S.P.L.A.T. Club meeting was so fun! I hope your kids enjoyed it as much as my boys and I did. I love how many different ages came. It kept me on my toes!
The children did a wonderful job creating still life pictures. I could tell they were applying the techniques of line and tone we learned about. We have some real talent here! Some art was left here and did not have names on them so I will keep those in a folder.
Next week we will be using pastels. "Pastel is an art medium in the form of a stick, consisting of pure powdered pigment and a binder." - Wikipedia. When these pieces are complete, we will be presenting them to elderly friends at a nearby home. Because of liability issues, parents will need to drive their own kids and we will meet up as soon as we all get there. If you cannot make it I can deliver it for you. However, part of the fun is seeing their faces light up when youth come to visit so hopefully you can make it. I will have more information on the location etc. soon.
Also, I please give us feedback. Comment or email me if you have ideas on how we can make the club better. Thank you so much!

First Ever S.P.L.A.T. Club Meeting Information!

Please join us for our first ever S.P.L.A.T. Club meeting! We will be meeting this
Wed. June 20 , 2012 at 3-4pm at the Udall household (I will send out an email with our address.) In the future, the club may meet at different parks/locations to enjoy creating art in the outdoors. The cost per meeting is $4 per child unless otherwise specified. I will provide the supplies needed, the kids just need to bring themselves and be ready to create, use their imaginations, make friendships and serve! At the time being, this club is open to school age children.

During our first meeting, we will be drawing a still life scene using graphite, taking into consideration line and tone. It will be fun to see how the different age groups interpret the subject. Younger kids can learn from the older kids and older kids can help guide younger kids. During our first meeting we will be discussing different ways for leadership within the club. I would like input from the children on subjects and mediums they would like to learn about in the club. I want this to be as fun and rewarding as possible for them. The last 15 minutes will be "free draw" time. At this time they can draw whatever they like!
Please send me an email if you plan to attend my email is amberudall@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing you then!

S.P.L.A.T. Intro

Hello! Thank you for visiting our site. We are a group of kids and parents who enjoy drawing and creating and being together. Once a month we make an extra special piece of art to give to someone in our community who we think would enjoy a little cheer. Other times we just have fun drawing and being together to learn from each other and share our talents with our friends.
